Acne gels - Duac and Differin Help?

I went to the dermo yesterday and he told prescribed me Duac and Differin. He said at night, apply Differin to the whole face (pea size) and Duac as a spot treatment on affected areas. What face wash works best with these gels? He told me i can keep using my aveeno face wash but is there any better one? And is that the best way to apply the 2 gels because i want to get the best results because i've tried SO many things. In advance, thanks for the answers :) Also, what are your results on these gels? Have they helped? i have a lot of underground pimples and black heads.
