Preferences about pubic hair on women?

What do guys prefer on women? I know the fully-shaved/waxed thing is popular right now, but I'm uncomfortable like that. Is it really such a big deal having maybe a 1.5" square trimmed patch up top? One person said that was "hairy" and I really don't think that's hairy at all compared to what it is naturally.
