What should I do about this lotion?

I have dry skin on my face and 2 of those red spots where the skin is really bad :( I put on some lotion from aveeno and it started burning those two spots really bad. It felt like I spilled a drop of acid on my face! It hurts really bad and u font know what to do, I left it on and it stopped but should I wipe it off? I've used this lotion a lot and it's never done this. Please just give me an opinion on what to do. Should I wipe it off, is this normal, what products can I use, etc. Thank you so much :)))
