I've had waxing but underarm still appears dark!!?

I've had dark underarms since i shave my underarms. However, i've recently waxed but i realise that it doesnt take away the dark, dead cells like it should have, as said in forums, etc. What should i do to make them return to their original color?! Help needed! thanks alot!!
